WORCESTER, MA (September 23, 2014) – More than 30 years into a formidable career filled with international acclaim and fueled by the unrelenting passion of a diehard fanbase, Overkill has not only stood the test of time – their modern creative output continues to shine. And now they will be bringing that content, both old and new, to the Rock & Shock stage. Replacing Machinehead, who were forced to cancel their tour plans at the last moment, Overkill has stepped up to headline day one of the 11th annual horror and music convention; the only Massachusetts date on their 2014 tour.
From thrash classics like “Elimination,” “Rotten to the Core,” “In Union We Stand,” “Electro-Violence” and the Headbanger’s Ball staple, “Hello from the Gutter” to new standouts like “Electric Rattlesnake” and “Come and Get It,” Overkill will be rocking the Palladium stage with a collection of anthems that is bound to make any band as green with envy as the Overkill logo itself.
Joining Overkill will be The Rocking Dead, a supergroup featuring Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, formerly of the Misfits, Ace Von Johnson of Faster Pussycat, Kriz Dk of Dead Star Assembly and Genitorturers and Virus of Device, Dope and Lords of Acid. The group originally came together to simply sign autographs and meet fans at Rock & Shock, thanks to famed rock photographer Jeremy Saffer. However, the all-star group has decided to band together for a one-off performance that is sure to thrill audiences with a true once-in-a-lifetime performance. Please note, although Wednesday 13 is set to sign as part of The Rocking Dead, he is not currently set to perform with the band.
Rounding out the mainstage will be Battlecross, Jasta, Avatar Disguise the Curse and a local band who will be selected by Break Thru Music’s Battle for Rock & Shock. A second stage is set to feature performances by Zire’s War, Carnivora, My Missing Half, The Rivers, Red Equals Meltdown, The Devil Inside Us and Rock & Shock favorites Mongrel.
